Tornado Of Fire Caught On Tape In Australia

An Alice Springs filmmaker managed to shoot one of the rarest natural phenomena! It is a fiery tornado that occurs when a "pillar" of the hot air down to the ground and causing a fire.
Chris Tangey of Alice Springs Film and Television was scouting locations near Curtin Springs station, about 80km from Ularu, last week when confronted by a fiery phenomenon.

A small fire was burning in nearby bushland, so Mr Tangey decided to start filming. He caught the sight of his life. A twister touched down on the spot fire, fanning it into a furious tower of flame. "It sounded like a jet fighter going by, yet there wasn't a breath of wind where we were," he told the Northern Territory News.

Spassky Cave Church in Russia

On the banks of the Don River, in the picturesque Voronezh region of Russia lies one of the most fascinating tourist attractions this country has to offer - the Spassky Cave Church. It’s believed the first caves were dug into the cretaceous mounts of Kostomarovo before the adoption of Christianity in Russia. Hermit monks would use these austere cell-like spaces to hide from persecution, and it wasn’t until the 12th century that the first rock monastery was carved in the region. Because there is no any historical note, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact date the Spassky Cave Church appeared near the small Russian village of Kostomarovo, but it is now considered one of the most incredible monuments of ancient architecture in Russia.

The Svyato-Spassky Convent in Kostomarovo is an ancient cave monastery located about 150 kilometers south of the town of Voronezh, just 3-hours drive away. There are two churches in these caves: a big Spassky temple with columns and a small St. Seraphim Sarovsky church. The Spassky temple burrows deep into the chalky cliff to form a spacious interior that can house up to 2,000 people.
This church is unique, made by carving a rocky mountain. The style is influenced by Byzantine architecture, but the interior is much more Orthodox style.

This unique and amazing building has a sad story. In the past, the Spassky Cave Church is used as torture chambers the communists against the monks. During communist power they were expelled from church, even one from them was shot.

Those who have visited Spassky Church speak of a fantastic sense of easiness and divine bliss, and it also has a reputation for healing diseases and wounds, helping people make the right decisions and cleansing sins. In fact, there is even a Cave of Repentance inside the chalk church where condemned sinners were once confined to repent for their sins. The sense of easiness may also be influenced by the beautiful natural surroundings that the locals believe look so much like the Holy Land that they named them after it. There is a hill of Golgotha, a Mount Tabor and even a Gethsemane Garden. Local residents believe that place around Spassky Cave Church is a sacred place.

Although famous among Russia’s religious folk, Spassky Church and the cretaceous caves of Kostomorovo remain almost unknown to the rest of the world.

Jesus’ Wife Mentioned on Fourth-Century Papyrus Fragment

A papyrus fragment dated to the fourth century written on it in the ancient Coptic language, contains a phrase: "Jesus said to them, my wife...". This discovery reopening the debate about whether Jesus was married, as some early Christians believed.

The faded papyrus fragment is smaller than a business card, with eight lines on one side, in black ink legible under a magnifying glass. Just below the line about Jesus having a wife. Below it is a second provocative clause that reportedly says: "She will be able to be my disciple."

The words on the honey-colored fragment are the first to show Jesus referring to a wife, according to Karen King, a professor of divinity at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who has published several books about new Gospel discoveries and is the first woman to hold the nation’s oldest endowed chair, the Hollis professor of divinity. King presented the finding on Tuesday at the International Congress of Coptic Studies in Rome. The writing in black ink is in the language of Egyptian Christians, on a fragment of about 1.5 by 3 inches (4 by 8 centimeters).

“One of the things we do know is that very rarely in ancient literature was the marital status of men discussed,” King said in a conference call with reporters. “Silence in marital status is normal.” She said in a statement that the earliest claim that Jesus did not marry is from 200 A.D. Early Christians did not always agree on whether they should marry or be celibate.

The fragment does not prove that Jesus was married or that if he was that it was to Mary Magdalene, according to the draft paper. Only women were identified in terms of family relationships, as someone’s sister, mother, or wife, King said. The question of whether Jesus married came up later when people wanted to use him as a model for their lives, she said.

The provenance of the papyrus fragment is a mystery, and its owner has asked to remain anonymous. Until Tuesday, King had shown the fragment to only a small circle of experts in papyrology and Coptic linguistics, who concluded that it is most likely not a forgery. But she and her collaborators say they are eager for more scholars to weigh in and perhaps upend their conclusions.

Presented at a show featuring several other diamond-encrusted dresses from Ms Wingham's collection, the black diamond dress received a mixed response from the audience in Kiev. And whilst the jewels may be impressive, so is the price tag of £3.5million ($5.67m).

Fisherman survives day at sea in crate after boat capsizes

Defying fate and an end that could have been as tragic as that of Titanic passengers, Ryan Harris of Alaska survived icy waters inside a small plastic fish crate for more than 24 hours before he was rescued.

A 19-year-old fisherman was rescued off the coast of Alaska Saturday after spending more than 24 hours adrift in a 4-by-4 foot plastic fish crate after his boat sank off Alaska. Young fisherman says he gave himself pep talks and sang “Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” to keep his spirits up.
His fellow crewmember managed to get into a survival suit and washed ashore on a beach after his own night afloat. A Coast Guard helicopter hoisted Ryan Harris, 19, of Sitka, from his plastic “lifeboat” on Saturday, more than 24 hours after the boat sank on Friday, the Daily Sitka Sentinel reported Monday.

Harris and his fishing buddy, 40-year-old Stonie “Mac” Huffman were fishing for salmon two miles off Cape Edgecumbe on Friday. Their 28-foot aluminum boat experienced hydraulic failure, which the men repaired, but they decided to head back to shore anyway.
On the way back, the waters became choppy and their boat was slammed by an eight-foot wave. The boat overturned and the men were thrown into the icy waters with no lifeboat, no life vests and no radios to call for help.

All the men had were two survival suits, a type of waterproof dry suit that protects a wearer from hypothermia in cold water.
Huffman was able to shimmy into a suit after two hours of effort as he held onto a plastic lid. Harris climbed into a four-by-four-foot plastic fish crate, but soon the two were separated by eight-foot tall waves.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified by relatives of the pair after they did not return to dock that night. Four boats and four helicopters searched throughout the early morning and next day.
Huffman was found by authorities on a beach about 25 miles northwest of Sitka, wearing a survival suit he found in the water and struggled for two hours to put on while losing hold of the plastic lid. Huffman was able to point rescuers in the direction of Harris. Two hours later, and 26 hours their boat first sank on Friday, a Coast Guard helicopter hoisted Harris to safety.

“It’s truly a miracle they survived,” said Sitka Mountain Rescue Director Don Kluting, who helped in the search.
“I never thought I was going to die, but I was worried about Mac,” Harris told the newspaper Monday. “I’m glad to be here.”

American robot that can run faster than Usain Bolt

The latest version of the Pentagon's robot Cheetah was able to run faster than a man, and not any man - faster than athletes Bolt Useini!
Cheetah Robot is a fast-running quadruped developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA.

During a recent test enhanced prototype Cheetah achieved a speed of 45.54 kilometers per hour (28.3 mph) without losing stability. The fastest man in the world, Usein Bolt, reached a top speed of 44.71 kilometers per hour (27.8 mph) 2009th when setting the world record.

The latest prototype is still powered from an external source using overhead cables, but Boston Dynamics, the company that the Pentagon is working on the development of advanced robots, believes the field test version of the robot in early 2013. year.

"The fact that we have achieved 45 km/h (28 mph) on the treadmill was a challenge and a great achievement, for which we congratulate our team of robotics," said Dr Alfred Rizzi, technical project leader Cheetah.

"Our goal is to create robots that can move freely in the open field and running quickly. Exactly the right version of the open ground we call Wildcat, which should be ready for testing early next year, said Rizzi.

Scientists are getting closer to the solution of the mystery of invisibility

Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas is one step closer to creating an invisibility cloak like Harry Potter in a movie, using carbon nanotubes (carbon nanotubes - CNT).

CNT has unique properties, such as air density and the strength of steel. They were the subject of constant study and placed into operation in numerous applications. His exceptional ability to conduct heat and transmit it to the surrounding area makes it an ideal material to be used for so-called "Mirage effect", which you can see in the deserts.

Block of lined highly transparent carbon nanotube are heated to high temperatures, with electrical stimulation. They then have the ability to transfer that heat to its surroundings, causing sharp temperature gradation.

Like a mirage, the sudden change in temperature makes light rays to bend around an object by hiding what is behind devices, making it invisible.

Giant Earthworm Discovered In China

In a province Binchaun County in southwest China was found a snake-like earthworm measuring over 19 inches (a half-meter) long in a house gutter. Li Zhiwei, a Forestry Bureau worker, made the discovery and eventually decided to keep the worm. "It looked like a snake, I looked carefully and found it was actually a huge earthworm," said Li. Li’s neighbors who came to see his unusual find said they had never seen an earthworm that long in their area before.

Biologists said they plan to study the giant earthworm found in Li’s backyard to find out why it was able to grow to such an enormous length. An adult earthworm's measurements vary by species and can range anywhere from 10mm long and 1mm wide, to 3-meters long and over 25mm wide. Environmental factors also influence an earthworm's body size, and they tend to grow longer and larger during humid seasons if they take in sufficient nutrition and have no natural enemies. Biologists plan to study the earthworm found by Li to classify it and identify the reason it was able to grow to its current length.

The discovery is especially cool for Li. He said he plans to keep the giant earthworm in his backyard and raise it as a pet.
